"I never quit until I get what I'm after. Negative results are just what I'm after. They are just as valuable to me as positive results."

"Many of life's failures are people  who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up "
 ---   Thomas Edison

I choose Thomas Edison as my hero because

1.he do not give up
2.strong mentally
3.he learn from his mistakes
4.His inventions were very useful and many are still used today.

-Madeleine Edison (1888–1979)
-Charles Edison (1890–1969)
T-heodore Miller Edison (1898–1992)

His Story :

Edison was a poor student. When a schoolmaster called Edison "addled," His furious mother took him out of the school and taught him at home.
He saw how sincere his mother is , he decided not to disappoint her . At young age, he had interest for mechanical things and chemical experiments.

In 1859, Edison took a job of selling newspapers and candies . He manages to set up a laboratory for experiments and started the "Grand Trunk Herald", first newspaper published. An accidental fire made him stop his experiments

At twelve , Edison lost almost all his hearing. Edison blamed on an incident which he was grabbed by his ears and lifted to a train. He did not let his disability discourage him but treated it as an asset, this allows him to concentrate on his works more .

In 1868, Edison first invention to receive a patent was the electric vote recorder . Daunted by politicians' reluctance to use the machine, he decided that he would not waste time inventing things that no one wanted.

Thomas Edison experimented with thoudands of different filaments to find the correct materials to glow well and long-lasting.In 1897,Edison found out that a carbon filament in an oxygen-free bulb glowed for 40 hours.Edison eventually produced a bib that could last for 1500 hours .

He also contributed fluroscopy as he discovered that calcium tungstate screens produced brighter images and is credited with design , producing the first available fluoroscope. In 1880 , Edison patented a system for electricity distribution , which was essential to capitalize on the invention of the electric lamp[Electric power distribution]
In 1920s, Edison's health became worse, and he began to spend time at home . He had a coma on October 14, 1931 and died on October 18, 1931.

He did 3 contributions :

  •  He experimented with thousands of different filaments to find just the right materials to glow well and be long-lasting. In 1879, he discovered that a carbon filament in an oxygen-free bulb glowed but did not burn up for 40 hours. He eventually produced a bulb that could glow for over 1500 hours.

  •   Edison patented a system for electricity distribution in 1880, which was essential to capitalize on the invention of the electric lamp[Electric power distribution]

  •  He contributed the fluoroscopy . as he quickly discovered that calcium tungstate screens produced brighter images and is credited with designing and producing the first commercially available fluoroscope. In its infancy, many incorrectly predicted that the moving images from fluoroscopy would completely replace the still x-ray radiographs, but the superior diagnostic quality of the earlier radiographs prevented this from occurring . Also , While other inventors had produced devices that could record sounds . Edison's phonograph was the first to be able to reproduce the recorded sound.
In conclusion , I think he is awesome in his invention and a person which shows good example of mindset of excellence

After reading his story , I wish to possess his never give up attidude . He say so himself. He will never quit until he get what he wants . He was almost deaf yet , he did not let it affect his work and even treat it as a positive thing .I also wish to possess those attidude which always learn from their mistakes . Not humble at all .
